Samsung’s new flagship phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a sleek and stylish device that offers an experience as good as any other high-end smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Z has been out for about six months now, making it the perfect time to check in on whether or not it deserves your attention. Despite some rocky start with its launch, this gadget is quickly becoming one of the best portable devices you can buy today.,
The “samsung galaxy z fold 3 release date” is a phone that was released by Samsung. It has the ability to be folded in half and unfold into a tablet. The phone does not have a camera on it, but instead has two cameras on the back of the device.
Samsung didn’t update the Flip as often as they did the Fold, and although the Fold was aimed at power users, the Flip was more of a lifestyle phone, which I liked. When we evaluated the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, we couldn’t help but be ecstatic since it brought us back to a period when phones were enjoyable. After demonstrating what Samsung could accomplish with a flip phone, they skipped a number, and I am delighted to report that we have a winner in our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Review.
Take a look and feel
The original Flip and the current Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 seem to be from different universes. Knowing Samsung, they like to keep to a characteristic design — as seen by their previous Samsung-branded smartphones. This time, the stylish Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 turns heads with its vibrant hues, allowing customers to choose the color that best appeals to them. The cream-colored Z Flip 3 was provided to us, and it’s one of two colors I’d choose from Samsung’s lineup (the other being grey) (a personal favorite color). The Z Flip 3’s bespoke-ness, on the other hand, is enough to persuade anybody to revisit their Moto Razr days.
The Z Flip 3 is covered in two layers of glasses that carry the device’s color and has a well-done metal structure that’s highly sturdy and durable, better than the original iteration. When you first open the phone, you’ll notice how thin it is. It took me a while to notice how much slimmer it is than my current daily driver, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
It’s also lengthy – as you can see in a side-by-side comparison with my S21 Ultra, it’s higher in height and narrower in width yet folds in half – which is my favorite feature of the Z Flip 3, the ability to carry a mammoth phone in a little package. Oh, and welcome to IP68 on a foldable device.
Display(s)
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a dual display smartphone, much as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. When you unfold it, you get a smartphone-sized display, and when you fold it, you get a little window-like display on the front. We’re going to speak about the little display since, if you read our earlier review of the older Z Flip, you’ll recall how we hoped the front display was larger, and it was.
Now with a larger cover image
Not only can you check the time and date on the display, but you can also look at all of your notifications without having to open the phone all of the time to check each one, set a custom timeout to be able to read pretty much everything in the notification center, and use widgets like the Music Player, Voice Recorder, Timer, and Agenda. Other adjustments are available for individuals who would want to set their own wallpaper with a suitable clock face. The small display can be used as a viewfinder with a double press of the power button, which is excellent, and the gesture control is also really cool.
Despite this, the widget possibilities are restricted to what Samsung permits, but it would be fantastic if users could install custom widgets like Controls for the Buds Pro or Buds 2, which would benefit customers who are involved in Samsung’s ecosystem. The swipe-down toggle, which only allows you to select the brightness and sound mode, is another place with minimal personalization. This might easily be addressed with an update that provides additional choices, but I’m delighted that upgrading from the Fit e’s little screen to something larger made the experience completely worthwhile.
Then it’s on to the Bigger Showcase.
The Z Flip 3 greets you with a 6.7-inch Infinity Flex display with the front-facing camera cutout on top as soon as you unfold it. If you haven’t noticed, practically every Samsung smartphone now supports 120Hz, and the Z Flip 3 is no exception, allowing users to feel that silky smooth refresh rate in the palm of their hands while swiping about with their fingers.
The crease on the display is still there, and it may upset some users while it may not bother others, but at this time, consumers must live with it since screens cannot fold into half as paper can, at least not yet. However, Samsung reinforced the folds to ensure that nothing gets inside the phone and damages the display. Overall, we don’t think the experience has altered much from its predecessor, save from greater quality and a faster refresh rate, but that’s all that matters.
However, 120Hz is excessive since it quickly kills the phone, which we’ll discuss in more detail in the Battery section.
Performance
Rather of settling for a Samsung Exynos processor that they had on hand, they went to Qualcomm’s shelf and chose the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor, which, to be honest, is quite speedy and hot. Flagship processors are becoming more powerful than in the past, but if there isn’t a balance of power, heat, and durability, catastrophe is almost certain. This year’s Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which runs the Exynos 2100 CPU, is a delectable processor since it has a fantastic balance of everything, including great battery management.
However, the 888 in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is fast and has poor heat dissipation, which I wish had better thermals, but given that most users aren’t going to be power users purchasing this – you’ll be fine. However, if you’re a power user like me and still want to use the Z Flip 3, chances are you’ll bring a battery pack with you because you’ll need it.
Charging and Battery Life
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3’s battery life and charging must be its weakest points. It has a 3300mAh battery that isn’t particularly long lasting. We managed to obtain roughly 3 hours and 53 minutes of screen on time throughout our time using the phone, where we utilized social media, entertainment, and a little bit of office job things — concluding precisely at 10:52pm with 1% battery remaining and preparing to hurry to the charger to get to 100%.
But it gets worse since, while having a lower battery capacity, the Z Flip 3 has poor charging rates, with a maximum of 15W. Because it has a lower capacity battery, increasing to 25W might have helped, but you’ll have to wait roughly 1 hour 32 minutes++ to get the phone from zero to one hundred.
Remember that we ran the battery test with 120Hz turned on. We saw a 15% increase in battery life when we switched back to 60Hz, giving us an additional hour of screen time and somewhat more to survive till midnight. So, if you want to improve your endurance, that additional hour at 60Hz will suffice. Aside from resolution, the refresh rate has a greater impact on battery life.
Camera
Finally, when it comes to the camera, it has two 12-megapixel cameras with minimal frills — one ultrawide with f/2.2 and the other with f/1.8. They produce decent photos, but because the hardware is the same as the earlier Z Flip, there’s not much to get excited about. For what it’s worth, they’re OK as long as you don’t pixel peep and delve into the nitty gritty. Consider them a fun party phone and a lifestyle camera that lets you catch views better. Take a look at the examples below.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has been re-sleeved for improved build quality, ingress protection, and a sleek look that sticks out in a crowd. While Samsung focuses on making this a lifestyle phone, as someone who isn’t a lover of huge phones, I have to admit that I loved carrying it in my pocket more than my S21 Ultra since the Z Flip 3 is virtually on par with the Z Fold 3. One allows you to construct a large phone that is larger, while the other allows you to make a large phone that is compact.
So, if you want to flaunt that flip and relive your days as a flip phone fanatic like me, grab the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. The accessories for the Z Flip 3 are also a lot of fun. Plus, the pricing is significantly more affordable, beginning at RM3999 for the 128GB model (the same as the S21) and RM4199 for the 256GB model (the same as the S21+).
We’d like to express our gratitude to Samsung Malaysia for lending us the Galaxy Z Flip 3 for this review.
