a geek in japan book pdf is a top 7 best one-volume manga of all time. The list includes titles such as Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, and One Piece.

It is well knowledge that I am a very lazy person who dislikes committing to tasks that take a long time to complete. That said, I’m also a skeptic when it comes to reading manga that consists of volumes after volumes, is lengthy, and takes almost a decade to complete. But the world of manga hasn’t abandoned misfits like me because of this; instead, it has created a space for those of us who like to read short manga with a compelling storyline and few characters that take no more than a few days to complete. As a result, I’d want to express my gratitude to all of the mangakas who have created one-volume manga (manga with just one volume) that are fast-paced, simple to complete, and just as fascinating as longer manga!

Short manga may now have any number of volumes from one to six. Action, adventure, fantasy, humor, romance, sports, music, horror, thriller, sci-fi, and more genres are all represented in these quick-read comics. This one-volume comic about coming of age is a must-read for all manga fans. The protagonist, Natsuru Nanao, recalls the summer of his youth when he met Rio Suzumura, a shy girl whom he befriended. He sacrificed his soccer practice to spend the summer with Rio. When tragedy strikes, what began as a seemingly harmless relationship takes a darker edge.

Natsume Ono’s Ristorante Paradiso

Fans of romance and slice-of-life comics, rejoice: this one-volume manga is dedicated to you! This manga depicts the day-to-day activities of a restaurant’s employees in Rome. The heroine, Nicoletta, has traveled to Rome from the countryside in search of her estranged mother. Instead, she finds herself training at Casetta dell’Orso, her stepfather Lorenzo’s restaurant. She soon becomes friends with the restaurant’s quirky employees as well.

Fumi Yoshinaga’s All My Darling Daughters

Yukiko, a professional woman in her thirties, moves out of the home she shared with her mother Mari when the latter chooses to marry an ex-host and aspiring actor who is younger than Yukiko. Yukiko, unable to tolerate her mother’s relationship, moves in with her boyfriend and eventually separates from her.

This manga not only tells Yukiko’s tale, but it also tells the stories of other women who are Yukiko’s peers. This collection of five short tales will fascinate you because it openly portrays the challenges that women confront in an oppressive patriarchal culture while also elegantly depicting the many types of mother-daughter relationships.

I recommend this comic to anybody seeking for something a little different yet still full of emotion.

Kyoko Okazaki’s Helter Skelter

All fans of thrillers and horror will love this one-volume manga. The manga follows Liliko, a supermodel who undergoes plastic surgery to get the ideal physique and look in order to stay at the top of the fashion industry. All of the cosmetic operations, however, take their toll on her physique, and it begins to break down rapidly, much to Liliko’s chagrin. When she competes against Kozue, an up-and-coming model known for her natural beauty and kind attitude, things become much worse.

This psychological thriller is one of the greatest comics of all time in this category because it exposes the fallacies of fame and beauty, as Liliko battles mentally to accept her own aging body, leading her to seek vengeance on everyone who stands in her way to popularity.

If you’re still interested, you may see the live-action film based on the manga, Liliko, starring Erika Sawajiri. This manga is readily available in English on any manga reading website on the internet.

Inio Asano’s demise

Inio Asano is known for his slice-of-life works, but in this manga he tackles a more serious subject. Downfall follows a manga creator whose only goal in life is to produce a series that will outsell his past success. In his pursuit of this, he neglects his already shattered marriage and deteriorating mental health.

Inio Asano’s novel Downfall exposes the darker side of the manga business and the immense strain that mangakas face on a daily basis. More recognition and praise comes with more sales, but this frequently comes at the expense of one’s mental and physical health, interpersonal relationships, and a love for manga that began as pure enthusiasm and real joy.

If you want to get a feel of what life is like for a mangaka, I recommend reading Asano sensei’s excellent essay. The tale is raw and genuine, and it will strike you like a ton of bricks.
